TOPIC: GROWING UP SPIRITUALLY
There is a characteristic common to all living things. That common characteristic is growth. Lack of growth is a sign of lack of life! Even when a man belongs to a family that refuses to grow he is neglected.

I Peter 2:2

Man cannot be helped beyond his level of growth. This is because there are certain things that CAPACITY is required to partake in.

There are certain things of depth that a man cannot receive from God except He has grown in the Word and in the faith.

How do you explain a man hearing from God right before entering a service that it is time to get the aircraft and the offering was taken only once!

How do explain such a statement as we are moving into Faith Tabernacle by this time next year? September 19th is a reality. Moving from your comfort zone to a thick forest.

How do you explain a statement such as – I CAN NEVER BE SICK!
Such statements are statements of great depth.

Galatians 4:1-3

The level of your depth determines the level of your freedom. So many people are in bondage not because of the devil but because of the depth of their understanding.

Until a child grows up he cannot be handed the responsibility of over looking certain aspects of the home.

In the Jewish tradition we are told there is a ceremony carried out for a Jewish boy who has grown to be a man. At that ceremony, His father calls a big party for him to say his son has now become a man and that his son can now act on his behalf. He can use his name, sign his cheques, act on his behalf, etc.

How many of us can God trust?

It is important to crave such a depth in God that is unshakable.

Why?
In the last days the faith of the saints will be under great trial and stress. Luke 18:8

If there was ever a time to grow up it is now. It is time to come out of baby Christianity to adult Christianity.

There are times the believer has to be pushed to come out of one level to another level. Instead of crying OH LORD WHERE ARE YOU? It is time to take responsibility!

Ephesians 5:14-16

Until we awake to spiritual realities we remain an object of torment for the devil!

Until we REDEEM the time, we cannot experience true RESTORATION.

It is insanity to keep doing the same things and expect a different result! – Bishop David Oyedepo

People have already taken off in the air, How long we will continue to crawl? Those who crawl cannot catch up with those who are mounted up with wings as the eagle. Isaiah 40:31

Hebrews 5:12-14
Mark 16:15 (The great commission)

The great commission was not for Pastors or the Apostles of old it is for us.
Romans 15:4

Until you decide to take up the challenge you may remain there for eternity and soon be abandoned!

There is a PRICE for every PRIZE!

CHECK BEHIND EVERY STAR, THERE IS A SCAR!

It remains a mystery why you believe in paying the price for building a successful career and do not believe in paying the price for a great Christian walk with God.

àJust like growth is a must for living, it is also a necessity for kingdom impact!

HOW DO I GROW?
1. BY THE WORD. Acts 20:32. I Peter 2:2

In the walk of faith there is one primary way you grow and that is by the WORD. Every time wants to forcefully change your level He sends His Word.
Psalm 107:20
Luke 7:7-9

Wisdom is one of the signs of growth and one of the primary ways we can contact God’s Wisdom is through His Word. Proverbs 2:1-6

There is nothing that grows like the WORD.

It is the food of the spirit man. Jeremiah 15:16; Ezekiel 3:1-3

With a constant and consistent dose of the WORD, your spiritual growth is guaranteed.

The major hindrance to growth is LUKEWARMNESS. Revelation 3:15-19

2. DEVELOPING A LIFE OF PRAYER. Genesis 18:20-33

Prayer is a two-way communication between God and Man.

Bishop David Oyedepo will say every time you pray have a note pad to write down what God is saying to you.

In the natural when you are going for a board meeting do go with your hands in your pocket and no note pad? How will you then approach the CEO of all CEO’s without no sign of readiness to hear what he has to say.

Prayer is not just talking to God, it is hearing from God what He has to say.

There is a level of prayer you get to where you are communing with God and talking with Him as a man speaks to his friend.

One way you can build up your fast is by praying in the Holy Ghost. Jude 20

3. BY FASTING. Matthew 17:20-21

One major avenue of spiritual growth is fasting.

We are becoming weaker in the body of Christ because we are not practicing this scriptural virtue like we ought to.

Matthew 9:15
Mark 2:19-20

Your fast does not please God. It is only your faith that can please God! Hebrews 11:6

Fasting does not help God act, it only helps you rid yourself of all that can prevent his hand from working in your life.

Those who don’t agree with the scriptural principle of fasting cannot go FAST in life.

Even Jesus fasted. Matthew 4:1-4

Because Jesus fasted and stayed in the Word when the tempter came He was no match for him.

How Do I know He stayed in the Word while He fasted?

That was the first thing that came out of his mouth!

When you are faced with any situation the first thing that comes out of your mouth is what you have been feeding on.

When you are in a fast, you are starving your body to feed your spirit man. So, every day of this fast make sure you are feeding yourself spiritually. You can do this through listening to anointed messages, reading anointed books, and of course studying the Word.

If your Spirit man and starved and your physical body is starved then you are at a risk.

However, for the purpose of our 21- Day fast starting tomorrow it is important to note the following;

There are two kinds of fast:

1. ABSOLUTE –This abstinence from food and water all day till evening when we break with the communion.
2. PARTIAL – This is abstinence from food only or breaking the absolute fast earlier than evening. This is recommended for children, older individuals, or those believing God for their healing/ situations on medical grounds or other reasons that will not permit the individuals’ engagement in an absolute fast.
